The Thursday! Newsletter 1-52: Two More Small Things on a Second Off Week
Volume 1, Issue 52
Hiatus Week the Second! Again, just a couple small things, but I think you'll like them.
Here's something that came to mind lately. I'll say right at the top that I don't have a satisfying answer to any of the questions I'll ask here. Perhaps, though, there is no answer. Curious? Let's go. I think it is safe to say that we love the things we create more than anyone else. That's why we get so irritated when they don't turn out as beautiful as we imagined they would when we started. We love even the odd stories and lopsided sculptures and the poems with the godawful rhyme scheme (Steve Miller, I'm looking at you for that one verse in "Take the Money and Run. You know). It bugs us as well when people don't love them quite as much as we.
Then we have the few things we do that we don't think are all that good and we don't love. We toss them into the world like the other loved things we think are good. People see them and love them. Those are the creations that get notice and praise. Isn't that frustrating? Why does that happen, do you think? Why can't we predict what people will love and what they won't? Why do our "castaway" creations find such enthusiasm when our most darling darlings don't? This has been at the core of my frustrations for a couple of weeks now. Like I said, I don't have answers. The situation bedevils me. Maybe it does you too.
That was the first thing. The second thing? There is no second thing. The first thing went a little bit longer than planned, though, so it all works out. Back to full thing next week and the start of Volume 2 (Volume Boogaloo!)

What I Wrote this Week
"Side 3, Track 6" is a poem based on history, kind of.
"The Impulse Purchase out of Space" is a poem that started with an odd image and proceeded from there.
"A Matter of Authority" is a little but funny, a little bit not, and (if I may be so bold) a lot of fun in a small package.

One Last Thing
This is where I ask you to help me out. I can't share Thursday! nearly as well as you can so if you know someone who might like what we have here, forward this along or show them the archives.
You can also buy or share my cool book, give it a solid review, or get an autographed copy (ask and I'll tell you how!).
If you're seeing Thursday! for the first time, HI! I'm glad to meet you. If you want more, subscribe right here.
As always, you can always talk back to me by hitting the reply button! I can't promise I'll always answer back, because I'm quite forgetful, but I'll read everything you send.
